$2,500 Grant Winner: Bree Noble Wins Global State of Women Relief Fund
Grant funding helps everyday musicians make more money.
Grants are cash injections for creatives.
One of the most surprising things about private-sector grant funding is how quickly the money can hit your bank account and how immediate the impact can be on your creative practice or business.
That’s exactly what happened for Bree Noble, a Grants For Creators community member who recently secured a $2,500 grant!

Before diving in, let’s give Bree Noble a round of applause.👏🏽
In this interview, Bree shares what inspired the decision to apply, what the process really looked like behind the scenes, and how receiving funding supported creative work in tangible, meaningful ways.
This interview is part of our Grant Win Series, where we spotlight creators who have secured funding through opportunities shared inside this community.
Expect honest reflections from real people on what worked, what felt challenging, and how creators navigate the grant process from start to finish.
1. For those who may be new to your work, can you share what you do?
I help musicians, especially female musicians over 40, build an engaged fan base and a sustainable income from music. We offer a weekly newsletter, a podcast, and digital products and courses.

We also have another arm of our brand, Women of Substance Radio, a platform that features music by quality female musicians in all genres. We have a program exclusively for women called ‘The Female Musician Accelerator.’
2. Where do grants fit into your overall income ecosystem as a musician and educator?
For musicians, grants can be very helpful in:
funding a recording project
having the capital to create a merch line
a stage production
much-needed instruments and gear
As an educator and podcaster, grants can help with:
launching a new program
bringing in experts to my membership to teach special topics
upgrading websites and podcast platforms
3. You recently won a $2,500 grant. What made you decide this one was worth applying for?
For my business, 2025 was a transitional year for many reasons.
Due to uncertainty and changes in buying behavior in my market, my income had decreased. While I was able to turn things around by the last two months of the year, I was behind.
The Global State of Women Relief Fund was made for my situation.
4. How did this award support your business?
This grant helped me stabilize and catch up on bills so I could start 2026 in a stronger position.

5. How do you balance applying for grants while running your business?
I just started applying in October 2025, so I haven’t created a real rhythm yet.
But I created a spreadsheet to track upcoming deadlines so I can spend a few hours twice per month applying for the ones that are the best fit.
Because I work at a church as a worship director, I had to triage a bit in December because I was so busy with Christmas events. But I made sure to flag the ones I thought I’d be the best fit for and finished those first.
I did have to skip a few, but I’m OK with that as long as I prioritized the best-fit ones.
6. If a creator is on the fence about using a resource like Grants For Creators, what would you tell them based on your experience?
I never thought I had time for grants because I had no idea how to do the research and couldn’t afford fancy research tools. But after joining Grants For Creators, I applied for my first grants in October, and by early December, I had my first grant money in my account. It was so encouraging that I joined Grants For Creators for the year.
