December 5th: Grants for musicians, fitness and wellness businesses and data-driven journalists
It's beginning to look a lot like... the holidays!
Happy December!
I cannot believe we will celebrate Grants For Creators' one-year anniversary next month. 🎉
If you’re curious to hear the behind-the-scenes of how my son inspired me to get started on this project (after months of procrastinating), listen to this podcast episode.
Anyway, how should we celebrate? A giveaway?
Or an all-expense paid trip to Costa Rica? Don’t mind me; I’ve always got travel on my mind.
Please share your ideas in the comments below!
This week we are sharing 28 opportunities in this newsletter awarding up $500,000. Awards are available for playwrights (#21), filmmakers (#8), scholarships for photojournalists (#24), and more.
Per usual, free subscribers have access to 20% of this newsletter. Our paid subscribers can browse the entire list + our archive with thousands of past funders, + our dedicated playlists for Black creators for example.
As an update, we’ve started a chat to keep in touch more easily.
Download the free Substack app and join the conversation.
We’ve started threads where you can share the awards you’ve won and another where we’re sharing the opportunities that don’t make the newsletter. Also, let us know what funding opportunities you’re looking for.
Lastly, there’s still time to join our grant workshops in January 2023.
If you want to improve your grant writing skills, this workshop is for you.
Learn insights from a grant writer and harness the power of storytelling to stand out from hundreds (or thousands) of other submissions.
We’ll tackle (3) of the most popular questions found on grant applications. By the end of this workshop, you will have the know-how to write a compelling personal statement, company description, and impact statement.
Reserve your spot and attend, Intro to Business Grant Writing Workshop ($97) happening LIVE on:
Thursday, January 19th at 7 pm EST
Tuesday, January 24th at 1 pm EST
You’ll have access to the replays within 72 hours and can rewatch as many times as you'd like afterward.

Applicants for this award must already have a contract with a U.S.-based publisher to write a nonfiction book.

3. McKnight National Residency and Commission
