October 24th: Grants For College Students, Latino Entrepreneurs and Theatre Creators
Grants can fund ideas, creative initiatives, and established businesses. Please, stop counting yourself out.
Hey, creators!
Over the weekend, I attended Afros & Audio Festival in Philadelphia, a 2-day podcasting conference where I had a chance to connect with folks in the podcasting industry. I’m hosting a Twitter Spaces today (10/24) at 6:30 p.m. EST recapping what we learned just in case you’re interested in joining that conversation.
At Afros & Audio, I learned a GFC subscriber won an $11,000 grant which means we’ve helped creators win over $61,000 in grant funding. Congratulations, Anna!
So, if you’ve won an award that you first spotted in this newsletter, please let us know so we can 1) celebrate you and 2) update our figures to reflect the true impact of this newsletter.
In other news, I get a lot of questions from creators who have never considered grants as a funding mechanism. “Grants, really?” “Isn’t that for scientists and nonprofits?”
I'm sharing everything I know about grants in a 1-hour training, Introduction to Grants For Creators, which shares the basics of grants — the advantages and disadvantages and how they can potentially support your work. By the way, did you know there are additional perks to winning a grant beyond the funds? Yes, we talk about it in the workshop!
This training is for anyone with little to no prior knowledge about grants. Discover what’s possible and see if grants are worth your time and energy.
This week, we’ve included 26 opportunities for artists, journalists, filmmakers, poets, and more. Paid subscribers can access the entire newsletter, while free subscribers can browse through the first seven awards.
If you haven’t yet joined as a paid subscriber, we hope you’ll consider supporting this research-intensive project by subscribing and sharing this newsletter with a fellow creator or small business owner. Your support will help us hire our second team member, an incredible researcher, to help us continue finding even more vjjrelevant funding opportunities.
