Grants for Theater and Playwrights
The latest funding opportunities for theater/theatre.
We are back with another highly requested “playlist” (our special way of grouping grants) tailored for theater and playwrights. We hope this makes finding funding even easier.
There are currently (4) grants listed.
Note: These grants have already been shared with our paid subscribers in our monthly newsletter (December 2025) and other playlists.
Think of a playlist just as another way to filter funding opportunities, so bookmark this page for later. We will update this resource regularly with new awards we find.
Our other playlists include:
1. [NEW] Helltown Players New Little Devils Short Play Series - For Playwrights
Helltown Players is thrilled to announce the third installment of their beloved short play series: New Little Devils. Building on the success of Little Devils (2024) and More Little Devils (2025), they’re taking the series in an exciting new direction this year — every play in the program will be a world premiere.
This is your chance to have your new, unproduced work brought to life on stage. Each play must be no longer than 20 minutes to perform. Ideally, they are looking for plays between 10 and 15 minutes. To submit, you must have some connection to Cape Cod — whether you live here year-round, have a weekend or summer home, or work on the Cape. Please tell them about your affiliation in your submission.
Playwrights whose plays have been accepted for production will receive a royalty of $100 for the use of their play for the run of the show. All playwrights will retain the rights of their plays.
Deadline: March 31, 2026
2. [NEW] The Creative Capital Award - For Individual Artists
This opportunity provides individual artists with unrestricted project grants to create innovative, original, and imaginative new artistic works in the visual arts, performing arts (dance, theater, music/jazz), film, literature, technology, multidisciplinary, and socially engaged forms across all 50 states and territories. The award provides grants of $15,000-$50,000, plus professional development support, industry connections, and community-building opportunities.
Applicants must be at least 25 years old at the time of application, and working artist(s) with at least 5 years of professional artistic practice within their chosen discipline.
Deadline: April 2, 2026
