1. [NEW] The 2025 Booooooom Photo Awards

This opportunity for photographers will award each category winner a $1,000 cash prize, editorial and social media coverage, a feature in a print publication, and additional perks (bags, slings, cases). You can submit to five award categories: Portrait, Nature, Street, Colour, and Fashion. They also offer three Format websites with lifetime subscriptions. Plus, they’re giving away three lifetime Format website subscriptions.

Entry Fee: FREE for 1 image to 1 award category. $20 for up to 10 images to 1 award category for consideration.

2. [NEW] Boyd’s Station Project 306.36 Visual Storytelling Program

This program’s recipients receive a $3,000 grant to participate in Project 306.36, a three-month visual documentary program that photographs and writes about the people and culture of Harrison County, Kentucky. Participants don’t have to worry about finding housing and paying rent. Furnished housing is provided at no cost to students. Candidates must be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students. Recent graduates pursuing a career in visual storytelling are encouraged to apply as well. They must be 21 years of age or older during the grant period. Previous newspaper journalism internships and/or journalism experience in a college newspaper are preferred but not mandatory. Most importantly, candidates must be committed to a career in journalism.
