Surprisingly, I applied for (4) grants and (3) speaking opportunities last month, all thanks to the resources shared in our newsletter — browse through our May 2025 Grants List.
Let me tell you, that’s really surprising because I’ve been feeling unmotivated lately.
In this gloomy economic climate, grants have been a bright shining light.
As many of my income streams have dried up, grants symbolize possibility, so I’ve been intentionally carving out more time to work on grant submissions.
Here’s the deal: applying for grants is 60% mindset and 40% doing the actual work.
Last year, I let a series of roadblocks prevent me from securing funding to bring my ideas to life. As a refresher, read this post about how I’m now making time to apply for grants despite a hectic schedule.
Once I figured out what was stopping me and crafted a game plan to overcome it, I felt a wave of confidence wash over me.
It’s taken a while, but I finally feel I’ve built enough momentum to pursue funding opportunities consistently. I feel more energized, and applying is coming more easily.
