1. [NEW] The Shaufler Prize in Journalism

This is the premier contest recognizing the best journalism in the country and advancing understanding of issues affecting underserved people in society, including communities of color, immigrants, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. Any working professional may enter the professional category. Students entering the competition must be enrolled in an accredited journalism program at the time the entry was published or broadcast. Cash prizes range from $2,000 to $10,000.

2. [NEW] The APSA Congressional Fellowship Program - For Political Scientists, Journalists & Telecommunications Fellowships

This opportunity is for those interested in fellowships for political scientists and journalists, or scholars/journalists with a focus on telecommunications. A stipend of $66,000 will be provided.

Political Science fellows must have completed a PhD in the last 15 years or will have defended a dissertation in political science by November of the fellowship year. The program is open to scholars in all fields of political science who demonstrate scholarly interest in Congress and policymaking.

Journalist fellows are early- and mid-career print and broadcast journalists (including online journalists) with a professional interest in Congress. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and two to ten years of professional experience in print or broadcast journalism, which may include or consist of experience in professional online journalism.

Applicants for the Telecommunications Congressional Fellowship are early and mid-career journalists and scholars in all disciplines and fields with a professional interest in public policy and telecommunications. Interests may include, but are not limited to, voice, video, and data communications using wireline and wireless networks, traditional mass media, intellectual property, privacy, and cybersecurity.
